This particular form of hypnotherapy takes advantage of the wonderful natural state that we call trance.
Hypnosis or 'trance' is a very normal state of mind. It's a state we experience many times a day; when we find our minds' wandering. We might call it day-dreaming or have a feeling of not being entirely present, on a car journey or watching the TV perhaps.
We use hypnosis in the sessions to recreate this relaxed state of mind, during which we can introduce positive suggestions to the un-conscious (or sub-conscious) part of the brain, which can then go about affecting positive changes in habits and thinking patterns. Combined with talking therapy, this supports and encourages new, beneficial changes, for long-lasting positive growth.

Sessions can be held via Zoom, so you can be comfortably in the comfort of your own home, or taking a break from the desk.

During your initial consultation, we will get clear on what you are hoping for from our work together (if you're not absolutely sure yet, don't worry, we'll cover that).
You will gain some understanding about why you are experiencing what you are from a neurological perspective, and what we can do to change it. We'll discuss the number of sessions you might need as well as the structure of the sessions.
There's no hypnosis in this first session as it's a chance for us to get to know each other and to get you off to a really good start on your journey. You can ask any questions that you have and we'll establish the best course of action.
Many clients report feeling a weight lifting after this first session combined with feelings of increased hope and optimism. Things really do start to change here.

Although you feel like you've missed something, trance is actually a state of very focused attention, and is an incredibly productive state of mind.During our therapy sessions, we access this state through carefully designed relaxing suggestion, and implement your desired outcomes to help you to create new, effective patterns of thinking and action.

The number of sessions that you will need will depend upon the nature of your condition and your own level of commitment and motivation.
Most of my clients are clear of the problem they came to me with within 8-10 sessions. Some clients choose to continue with a session once monthly if they have a particularly demanding professional or personal life, as it helps to remind them of the skills they have learnt and keeps them focused, relaxed, and on track!
Some deeper held issues can be a little more stubborn, but as we are creating new neural pathways or thinking patterns during this process, it helps to be a little patient with yourself! With your commitment, it's a relatively short period of time.

Everything we talk about during our sessions are strictly confidential between you and me. I may discuss elements of our sessions with my supervisor. During these discussions I do not disclose any details that may identify you to my supervisor, and my supervisor also adheres to GDPR.
As a I am a member of the CNHC (accredited by the Professional Standards Authority) some health insurers will cover your treatment, but you will need to contact them directly. Some companies pay for hypnotherapy or coaching sessions as part of their staff development or support schemes. Contact me for further information regarding company schemes.
Nobody can make you do anything you don't want to do. Your subconscious mind is constantly alert to anything unusual or out of context. I cannot take control of your mind, or input any suggestion which is contrary to your beliefs or values. Your subconscious mind is very well equipped to reject any suggestion which is not relevant or appropriate to you. Nor would I want to! My motivation is to get you to where you want to be in the most efficient and constructive way possible!
Stage hypnotism is a very different thing. It's about the performance. 'Volunteers' are carefully vetted to ensure they'll meet certain criteria for entertainment value.
We don't do that in my sessions!
