Imagine waking up tomorrow feeling calm instead of fear.
Whether it’s flying, stepping onto a stage, or seeing a spider, phobias can limit our freedom, self‑belief, and joy.
You might have tried 'tough love' exposure therapy or been told to “face your fear,” only to find it overwhelming or ineffective.
That ends here.
It’s completely normal to feel nervous or wary about certain things; most of us have something we’d rather avoid.
A phobia tends to feel bigger than that. It’s usually marked by a strong, sometimes overwhelming reaction that feels disproportionate to the actual situation.
You might notice your heart racing, your breath quickening, or a powerful urge to escape, even when you know you’re safe.
Just thinking about the trigger might be enough to bring on discomfort or panic.
Unlike general anxiety, which can feel like a background hum or appear in response to stress, a phobia is usually tied to something very specific—like flying, speaking in public, or encountering a particular object or situation.
Fears, phobias, and anxiety can sometimes overlap or feed into each other. The good news is: I’m trained to work with all of these. Whether your response is mild but frustrating, or completely overwhelming, you don’t have to live around it anymore. There’s a gentle, and effective way forward.
You aren’t 'over‑reacting', you’re stuck in an automatic threat response. The good news? Your brain can learn a new, more appropriate pattern.
Phobias come in all shapes and sizes, and no two people experience them quite the same way.
Some appear suddenly and seem to make no sense at all, while others follow a stressful or difficult experience. But no matter how your phobia began, it’s real, valid, and most importantly, changeable.
You might have what's called a primary phobia—one that seems to have come out of nowhere. There's no clear reason behind it, but your brain just reacts as though something is dangerous. It might feel irrational, but that doesn’t make it any less intense.
Or yours might be a secondary phobia—where something happened that caused your brain to link a certain situation with fear. For example, if you had a panic attack in a lift or during a medical procedure, your mind might have started avoiding those situations entirely, just in case it happens again.
There’s also the difference between specific phobias and complex phobias:
Some people find their phobia confusing or even embarrassing, especially if it seems rare or unusual. But I want you to know, if it’s getting in the way of your life, it’s worth addressing.
With Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, we don’t need to analyse or relive where the fear came from. Instead, we work gently and effectively to guide your brain toward a calmer, more confident response. It’s all about helping you feel free again, without forcing anything.
There are many potential downsides with traditional exposure therapy that I'm keen to avoid in my therapy room! Instead, we take a more modern, effective and more accessible approach.
As I am also a trained trauma therapist, so we can approach any trauma-related fears or phobias in an appropriate way.
We’ll connect for 20 minutes; no obligation, to explore your experience, your goals, and how this gentle method can help.

Primary triggered by a specific object or situation, such as dogs, while secondary phobias develop as a consequence of another underlying condition, such as anxiety or OCD
We will always work at a pace that is right for you, respecting your experiences.
I cannot tell you how thrilling it is to receive a message from a client who has experienced for the first time, the absence of a response to a trigger! Most clients notice a shift in their fear response after the very first session, with lasting change in just a few weeks.
What might that be like for you? Where would you go and what would you do if you no longer had that problem?
I'm looking forward to hearing from you and finding out what I can help YOU with.
